What to expect during your first session.

You will most likely be greeted at my front door by Maggie and Emmy, our two rescue dogs. They will sniff you and once they realize you are friends, they will beg for a treat 🙂

I have a short form that you will fill out, consisting of your basic information, any problems that you may currently have and what you are hoping to get out of your session. We will discuss it briefly before heading up to my “reiki/reflexology room.”

During both reiki and reflexology sessions you remain fully clothed, minus your shoes. I will remove your socks for reflexology. You have the option to use an eye pillow to cover your eyes. Some, including myself,  find it easier to quiet the mind when the eyes are covered. We may chat for a few minutes, but then it is your time to RELAX! Although some of my clients do remain chatty for a bit during reflexology, I eventually lose them to a deep relaxation or even sleep (don’t worry if you begin to snore, I actually find that to be a compliment)!

There will be soft spa/meditation music playing throughout your session (on occasion, someone  will mess with me and a random, upbeat song will start playing). If you have something in particular that you like to listen to, ie: ocean waves, rain, a particular artist, piano, etc, please tell me! I am happy to put on whatever helps you to relax.

What does reiki feel like? It depends on the recipient. Some feel heat, pulsing (like the feeling of trying to put two magnets together), waves of energy. You may feel something or you may feel nothing. Either way, you will feel relaxed and refreshed afterwards. The key is to have no expectations. Just go with the flow and let the healing energy wash over you.

What does reflexology feel like? It does NOT tickle! I have several clients who do not like having their feet touched or are super ticklish, but they LOVE reflexology. Like massage, I can deepen or lighten my pressure. There are over 7,000 nerve endings in your feet so you could feel something just about anywhere in your body!

When the session is over, I will gently let you know.  More often than not, you are sleeping 🙂
